Warranty

What is covered and how to raise a claim

What the Warranty Covers

HeatX warrants that the equipment it supplies will be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service. The warranty applies when the equipment is installed, operated and maintained in line with the documentation shipped with it and within the design conditions shown on its nameplate.

This warranty is given to the original purchaser and covers new heat exchangers, replacement tube bundles and parts purchased from HeatX.

How Long Coverage Lasts

Coverage runs for the period stated on the quotation or order acknowledgment for that equipment. Where different periods are stated for an exchanger and its parts, each part carries its own stated period.

Repaired or replacement items are covered only for the remainder of the original period; a warranty repair does not start a new one.

Repair, Replacement or Credit

If equipment proves defective within the warranty period, HeatX will, at its option, repair it, replace the defective item, or credit the purchase price of that item. HeatX decides which remedy applies after reviewing the claim and, where needed, inspecting the equipment.

Removal, reinstallation, field labor, cranes, process downtime and similar site costs are not part of the remedy unless HeatX agrees to them in writing before the work is done.

What Is Not Covered

The warranty does not extend to failures caused by conditions outside the equipment's design or outside HeatX's control. Typical exclusions include:

  • Corrosion, erosion or fouling caused by process or utility fluids
  • Operation above the nameplate pressure or temperature
  • Freezing, water hammer, thermal shock or excessive vibration
  • Improper installation, piping strain, handling or storage
  • Repairs or modifications made without written approval from HeatX
  • Normal wear of gaskets, O-rings and other consumable parts

Selections Based on Buyer Data

Thermal and mechanical selections rely on the process data the buyer supplies: fluids, flows, temperatures, pressures and fouling allowances. If that data is incomplete or does not match the real operating conditions, any shortfall in performance is not a warranty defect.

Material choices for corrosive service are made on the information provided. The buyer remains responsible for confirming that the specified materials suit the actual fluids.

How to Make a Claim

Notify HeatX in writing as soon as a suspected defect is discovered and within the warranty period. Include the serial number from the nameplate, the order or invoice number, a description of the problem, the operating conditions at the time and photographs where possible.

Keep the failed equipment and parts available for inspection. HeatX may ask for the item to be examined on site or returned before a remedy is decided.

Returning Equipment Under Warranty

Do not ship anything back without a return authorization from HeatX. Returned equipment must be drained, cleaned and free of hazardous residue, with a statement of the fluids it has handled.

Items sent back without authorization, or arriving contaminated, may be refused or returned at the sender's expense.

Limits of This Warranty

The remedies set out here are the purchaser's sole remedies for defective equipment. To the extent the law allows, this warranty replaces all other warranties, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.

HeatX is not liable for lost production, lost product, loss of profit or any incidental, special or consequential damage arising from a defect.

Which Law Applies

This warranty is interpreted under the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
